IAQ Applications : VOC Monitoring

Ruks ControZone CZ1 offers reliable, efficient and cost effective solution to track and control VOC in your indoor environment. Duct, plenum or space mounting options offer total flexibility to suit all applications. A watch dog of your air quality, it continuously tracks weighted average of concentration of prevailing VOC. Through Variable Load Controller, provides variable voltage to modulate IAQ devices, to eliminate or minimize offending VOC, odor and smoke. With suitably sized Ruks Ozone Generators, helps reduce HVAC plant size and operating cost. Your silent partner in improving IAQ, ControZone CZ1 helps reduce HVAC capital and operating costs.

MODE OF OPERATION:

Sensor module is remote mounted and provides rapid response to changes in VOC. Based on the level of VOC sensed, CZ1 provides variable signals to Load Controller. Sensor module provides user selectable 0 to 10 VDC single analog stepped or 0 to 5 VDC proportional output, for interface to Automated Building Management System. Solid state Variable Load Controller accepts input from Sensor module and converts applied line voltage to variable output voltage, used to modulate air quality devices. Single power source to Sensor and Controller. Potentiometers for 1 level of clean room and 3 Levels of pollution, each individually field adjustable. Baseline of the sensor is factory set to clean air conditions. Sensitivity pot on the sensor provides users the option to set baseline to customize their requirement. Preset sensitivity of the sensor is retained in the event power is lost, or if the system is turned off for maintenance. May be used in fully automatic or manual mode. Ruks ControZone CZ1 is fully factory assembled with interconnecting cables between Sensor and Controller modules. The only field provided requirement is power wiring, and is ready to start.

RECOMMENDED PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS:

    SENSOR MODULE

  1. Regulation of IAQ device shall be automatically controlled by Ruks ControZone CZ1 system, comprising Auto VOC Sensor and Variable Load Controller.
  2. Sensor and Controller shall be rated for continuous operation.
  3. Sensor shall be suitable for mounting in space, duct, plenum, or process chamber. If not space mounted, it shall be provided with Stainless Steel Air Aspiration enclosure. Sampling air shall be aspirated to the enclosure and released.
  4. The Sensor shall be factory calibrated to Isobutylene gas 100 PPM for full span and controlled clean air for zero span. Factory stamped calibration certificate with date of calibration shall be provided with each Sensor.
  5. The VOC Sensor shall be capable of detecting broad range of commonly occurring VOC in indoor applications. Each gas sensed is related by the sensor to its corresponding concentration value to isobutylene.
  6. The Sensor shall provide 4 distinct signals, one each for Clean, Low, Medium and High levels of concentration of the polluting VOC. The Sensor shall have 5 LED displays to provide visual indications for the 4 levels, and warm up phase. It shall be possible to field adjust the sensitivity of the sensor.
  7. The sensor shall provide 0 to 10 VDC stepped and 0 to 5 VDC proportional output, field selectable, for interface to Automated Building Management System.
  8. In the event of power failure, or if the system is turned off, the Sensor shall retain the pre set sensitivity.
  9. The sensor shall be provided with potentiometers to adjust the 4 levels of pollution, independent of one another.
  10. The Sensor shall be suitable for operation in air stream of RH 45% to 65%.
  11. Factory supplied interconnecting cable shall be provided, for communication between Sensor and Load Controller.

    VARIABLE LOAD CONTROLLER

  12. Controller shall be solid state, mounted in rugged stainless steel enclosure.
  13. It shall be fully factory assembled. Field provided connections shall be limited to power wiring.
  14. The Controller shall be suitable for accepting signals from the Sensor. Based on the signals received, it shall provide variable output to operate IAQ devices.
  15. Input voltage to controller shall be 120 Volts, 1 Ph, 60 Hz or 220 to 240 Volts, 1 Ph, 50 Hz (Factory set). It shall be suitable for load rating of 10 Amps.
  16. Controller shall be provided with terminal block to connect incoming power, variable outgoing power, and for interlock to AHU motor or other air moving device, and to safety device such as high ozone cut out switch.
  17. The Controller shall be provided with receptacle to accept easy plug in cable connector, for communication to Sensor.
  18. Controller shall provided with 3 Lamps to indicate Power On, Automatic, Manual Bypass.
  19. Controller shall be provided with rocker switch to choose Automatic or Manual Mode of operation. In the Manual Bypass Mode, voltage output of the Controller shall be 100% of input voltage, regardless of the level of VOC.
  20. Cable connector between Controller and Sensor, length not less than 25 ft (7.5 M) shall be factory provided (specify length if longer than 25 feet is required). This shall be complete with cables to provide power to Sensor and transfer signals for the different levels of VOC from Sensor to Controller.
  21. The Sensor Controller shall be Ruks ControZone Model CZ1. Country of manufacture shall be USA.
