Required information:
Area to be treated.
Height (floor to suspended ceiling) of treated space.
Intended use of the space; Eg. Restaurant, Bar, Lobby etc.
Number of AHU serving the space.
- Calculate area served by each AHU
- Enter chart A. Plot area served by AHU 1 on the horizontal Axis
- Identify the Height Line in chart A
- Draw vertical line from point located in step 1, to intersect with height line
- Identify the closest match to Application Line in chart B
- From the point located in step 4, draw horizontal line to enter chart B and intersect with the Applications Line
- From the point of intersection, draw a vertical line down to horizontal Axis. Read the machine size
- If it is between two sizes, chose the generator closest
- If no Application Line is intersected, divide the area into multiple number of smaller areas, repeat the Selection Procedure, and chose multiple number of generators
- Repeat the same for other AHU
EXAMPLE 1
Select Ozone Generator for Call Center (Business Process Application)
Number of AHU is 1. Area is 1,200 Sq Ft (113 Sq M). Height to ceiling is 14 Ft (4.30 M)
- Identify Height Line in chart A. It is Line 1
- Identify Applications Line in chart B. It is Line 4
- Enter area 1,200 Sq Ft (113 Sq M) on Horizontal Axis of chart A
- Draw vertical line to intersect with the identified Height Line (Line 1)
- From point of intersection, draw horizontal line to enter chart B and intersect with the identified Applications Line (Line 4)
- From point of intersection, draw vertical line down to Horizontal Axis
- Point of intersection on Horizontal Axis is K3. If multiple AHU’s serve one common area, one set of IAQ Monitor and Controller is adequate
